As a very outgoing, passionate, and caring person, Alex always looks forward to seeing new and returning members come through our Parks Plus Fitness doors each day! Alex brings several years of experience in the fitness industry with experience in fitness education, management, and training highlighted with his time at Google’s headquarters in Mountain View, CA as a G-Fit Fitness Coach. Alex has a Master’s degree from Illinois State University in Exercise Physiology and holds his ACSM-EPC certification.

Assistant Manager

Maddalena is the Assistant Manager and a certified personal trainer through World Instructor Training Schools (WITS). She also is a certified TRX & Silver Sneakers instructor. Maddalena loves to learn about different client needs and to create plans for them to keep moving!

All of our personal trainers are certified in CPR, AED and First Aid. Some personal trainers also teach fitness classes, those trainers are noted with an asterisk (*) below.

Jim Brown Personal Trainer
Jim Brown

Certified Personal Trainer

Jim is certified by WITS as a personal trainer through the College of DuPage and has been a trainer at PPF since 2014. He also has a BS in Accounting from Marquette University and an MBA in Finance from Loyola University and spent most of his career, until retirement, in the financial field. He believes people of all ages can enjoy improved functionality and well-being, primarily through strength training and balance exercises. Jim has a wide range of fitness experiences and at times may incorporate those within his clients’ training sessions. He has competed in Masters (age group) Track and Field, running the sprint races. He also has participated in and taught martial arts for 20 years, currently holding a 4th degree black belt in Taekwondo. In the past, Jim owned and operated a bicycle shop for 8 years.

Certified Personal Trainer | Spin, Strength, Cardio Instructor

As a loving mother of two young boys Kristina recognizes sometimes there aren’t enough hours in the day. Her specialty is high-intensity interval training which will tone and strengthen the body efficiently. Kristina utilizes a variety of functional exercises to enhance your fitness for everyday life. Kristina is certified by the American Council on Exercise.

Evan Strauel Personal Trainer

Certified Personal Trainer

Having been a multi-sport athlete for most of his life, Evan understands the value in improving strength, endurance, and body composition. Specializing in progressive resistance training, Evan emphasizes the importance of developing lean muscle mass by pushing your limits and practicing proper nutrition. In addition to being certified through the American Council on Exercise, Evan is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and is regularly learning new techniques to incorporate into his training.

Brian Houzenga

Certified Personal Trainer

Brian is certified through the World Instructor Training Schools (WITS). Being a former collegiate track and field athlete, Brian understands the positive benefits of participating in sports and physical fitness activities and the need for effective training. Brian brings many years of experience in leading recreational programs for people with special needs. Feeding off these experiences, he makes sure each client gets the attention they deserve on their personal fitness journey by meeting them where they are at and adapting to their needs.

Anthony Cimino

Certified Personal Trainer

Anthony is an ACE Certified Personal Trainer and is very passionate about fitness. He long consulted family and friends on their workouts and decided it was time to make it official! Anthony loves working out, and his preference is weight training. He has a history of playing sports and loves the physical and mental preparation that goes into participating in basketball, football and baseball. He wants to learn about clients’ goals and create workouts with their best interests in mind. Anthony believes people should work hard, have fun and be proud of themselves for making the commitment to put in the work!

Laurie has been teaching fitness classes for over 20 years and has been with the park district since 2004. She teaches all class formats. Laurie enjoys working with participants to make exercise fun and something to look forward to. She feels that inspiring music and good cueing are the basis of a great class.

Kidz Kingdom Attendants

All Kidz Kingdom instructors, volunteers and staff are certified in CPR, AED, and Department of Children and Family Services Standards training. In addition, each employee of the park district must pass a background check prior to their first day of employment.
