Fitness Spotlight

Neurological-focused group fitness classes offer a wide range of cardiovascular, muscular, skeletal, and neurological training that will help improve the lives of those who suffer or have suffered from Parkinson’s, chronic seizures, stroke, multiple sclerosis and other conditions.
^ Registration into the advanced class must be approved by Alex DiSerio, Parks Plus Fitness Manager, and can be requested by emailing [email protected] or calling at 630-510-5135.
Group Fitness Class Descriptions
Balance, Strength & Stretch – Improve balance and ward off osteoporosis in this relaxing yet challenging class. Using light resistance, we’ll strengthen the body and focus on “functional fitness”. Stretching exercises complete this great workout.
Body Sculpt – Firm and strengthen your entire body in our popular weight training class! Using a variety of resistance (hand weights, tubing, bands, etc.) you’ll challenge muscles and create the toned body you’ve always dreamed of!
Cardio Mix – Get your heart pumping in this easy-to-follow, low-impact cardio class. Modifications provided to increase or decrease intensity. Friday class incorporates a step platform (optional).
Cardio Strength Intervals — Cardio-focused class interspersed with full body strength drills, designed to keep your heart rate up while sculpting the muscles.
Gentle Yoga – New to yoga? Have limitations? We use modifications to accommodate all levels. Increase your strength and flexibility while improving the mind-body connection.
HIIT Training – The ultimate cross-training class challenges your strength and endurance with timed intervals so you know how hard and how long you need to work! Get ready to sweat! All fitness levels welcome; modifications given.
H2O Aerobics – Have some fun in the sun with this cool summer workout. Less stressful on the joints than land-based workouts but just as challenging! Meets at Rice Pool 6/2-8/6.
Intervelocity – Full body strength and conditioning (high-intensity) interspersed with cardio intervals (active recovery).
Power Sculpt – This intermediate/advanced strength training class incorporates full-body movements to challenge muscles and the cardio system. Experience this dynamic conditioning class that focuses on developing total body power.
SilverSneakers Circuit^– A standing circuit workout designed to increase cardiovascular and muscular endurance. Equipment provided: hand held weights, elastic tubing and a SilverSneakers ball. Muscular work will alternate with low-impact cardio work (chair support is available).
Silver Sneakers Chair Yoga^– This class will help increase flexibility, balance and range of movement. Restorative breathing and relaxation exercises promote stress reduction and mental clarity. All fitness levels welcome (chair support is available).
Silver Sneakers BOOM^ — A moderate to vigorous intensity class, designed to increase muscular strength, endurance, function and cardiorespiratory health.
Spin – In this 55-minute cycling class, you’ll work harder than you ever thought possible with aerobic endurance intervals: flats, hills, strength, and speed plays. Visualization through music and instruction pushes your body to new limits!
Step It Up! – This cardio class brings back the fun STEP combos from the 90s but with a modern twist. Think HIIT and intervals…let’s go retro!
Yogalattes – This class incorporates movements from intermediate Pilates and Yoga classes, but modifications are given to suit beginners and advanced participants.
Yoga: Levels 1-2 – Work at your own pace, using slow, controlled movements to strengthen and stretch your muscles through a series of poses called asana. Relieve stress and calm the mind by learning deep breathing exercises and relaxation techniques.
